Natural, organic plant food, Biofeed is produced at 'The Willows' stud farm, Otapiri, near Winton in Southland, New Zealand.
Our property has historically bred stud horses, as well as cattle and sheep. During the cold winters the animals are wintered over in large barns. The bedding is consistently removed then hot composted to the stringent requirements of BIO-GRO New Zealand. When the composting process is complete and all biological activity of enzymes and microorganisms have developed, the compost is liquefied and packaged for the retail markets.
After putting years of commitment and research into developing a high quality certified organic liquid leachate, The Biofeed Company was formed in 1994. Since then it has gathered a growing following in Southland and further afield within New Zealand. We are also investigating offshore markets, with particular interest in Canada and the United Kingdom.
We strive within the seasonal rhythm of nature to bring you a high quality nutritionally balanced certified organic compost tea. Organic compost tea, Biofeed is absorbed immediately on application, and is proven to stimulate natural bioactivity in the soil. Its natural enzymes and nutrients work in supporting the plant's immune system against pests and diseases as well as in producing quality organic vegetables - with old fashioned flavours and strong healthy flowering plants.
In 1998, organic fertilizer alternative, Biofeed won the Southland Regional Environmental Award in its category. An Award that is in part sponsored by the New Zealand Department of Conservation and Carter Holt Harvey Ltd.
